A number of you have mentioned purple finches. I have had about 2 dozen purple
finches at my feeder all winter, as I do every winter. I think they came around
the first of November, but I cannot find my notes. I do not usually have any
house finches, but twice the purple finches drove away a house finch that tried
to come to the feeder. The purple finches are in gorgeous color. I suppose they
will be leaving soon.
I live 5 miles south of Knoxville, TN in 4 acres of woods on a hill.
