[TN-Bird] Purple Martins return!

Victor Stoll in Finger, Tennessee (Chester County) reported on the Purple
Martin Conservation Association's forum that a pair of Purple Martins
returned to his large colony there yesterday. I put my gourds back up
last night and laughed as I watched a pair of starlings try in vain to
enter the starling resistant crescent-shaped entrance holes on the gourds
this morning. They tried in vain for half an hour! I'll never put up
another round holed gourd again! One pest has been eliminated, now if I
could find a way to keep out those pesky House Sparrows!
Good birding,
