Radnor Lake
Nashville, TN
Davidson Co.
The Mourning Warbler that I reported seeing at Radnor Lake this morning
possibly may have been a MacGillivray's instead. After I got home I thought
more
about what I had seen briefly this morning. The hood was gray and the white
around the eye seemed to be too strong. So I went back this afternoon from
5:00-6:00 and saw it real well from close range. It definitely has a full gray
hood with a whitish throat. The white around the eye looked like strong
eye-arcs (top and bottom); not a weak, narrow incomplete eye-ring. I got a
little
video of it a couple of times which shows the eye arcs and throat, and the
undertail as it's flying away. But the video is by no means great.
I want to stress that this is only a POSSIBLE MacGillivray's. Hopefully, it
will still be here in the morning and more people can get a look.
It stays in the brushy area in front and the side of the ranger's house at
the end of the dam road. It especially likes the split rail fence line that
goes down toward the bench at the point. It calls quite a bit, and can be
pished
out.
