[TN-Bird] Possible Black-chinned Hummingbird in Maryville

We observed the bird four or five times for several minutes at a time
Thanksgiving morning from 9:30 until almost 11:00. We first saw the bird
from Ann and Ronnie Talents' kitchen, then moved out on the screened porch
toget a better look at the wings and tail. It was overcast and then raining
lightly. In the gray light, the back appeared emerald green. The entire
chest appeared buffy. The long, thin, curved wings seemed to be tapered at
the tip rather than broad and rounded, but extended almost to the tip of the
tail. The throat was heavily speckled in the middle. When perched on the
feeder, but not feeding, the bird flicked its tail. We did not get a good
look at the notch in the tail. We could not determine if it was an immature
Black-chinned or an immature Ruby-throat. Jean Alexander &David Johnson
