I have been having Pine Siskins regularly this fall but yesterday morning,
Saturday 12/20, I think I hit the jackpot. Conservatively, there must have
been 75 Siskins, along with a few Goldfinches, on my nyger and black oil
feeders, on the ground under my feeders and on the bird baths - I've never
seen so many birds at my feeders. Today I've had groups of 40+ but not the
mass that swooped in yesterday.
Some of the Siskins even tolerate me walking in the vicinity of the feeders;
however, I am not having the large numbers (25-30) of Goldfinches that I
usually have - the Siskins must overwhelm them. The birds are a delight;
however, I can see my seed costs going up!
Happy Holidays.
