Walked around the pond at Pellissippi State Campus in west Knox County
Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m. fascinated by all the swallows (about 20 at
any one time) darting over the pond. They were mostly TREE SWALLOWS but at
least 2 (maybe 3) PURPLE MARTINS, a BARN SWALLOW and a NORTHERN ROUGH WINGED
were among them. As I stood there mesmerized, sorting out all the moving
targets, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS landed in the grass just a few feet from me and
stayed a couple minutes before taking flight. Couldn't relocate it.
One male LESSER SCAUP was on the pond with 18 CANADA GEESE and 10 MUSCOVIES.
A flock of 14 KILLDEER were in the area.
An EASTER PHOEBE was seen as well.
