Paris Landing and Pace Point Area
Henry and Benton Co. TN
The mist and rain made for hard viewing but there were rewards to be had.
There are 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls in the area. On both days an adult and
an immature were seen resting on the bar out from the bridge at Paris
Landing. This adult has a lightly streaked head where another adult seen both
days in Eagle Creek bay area has a much darker more streaked on the head. I
checked both birds on two occasions to make sure it was not one bird just
moving around.
Bonaparte's Gulls and Forster's Terns were seen in good numbers also in Eagle
Creek. The numbers of gulls is down from last week but I did find one
Franklin's Gull on the sand spit south of New hope Landing. The numbers,
varying sizes, ages and coloration of the numerous Herring Gulls is an all
day study anytime.
Lots of Cormorants and Pied-billed Grebes have moved in but no Horned Grebes.
Would not mind running up on a Red-necked Grebe either.
Still looking for a Great Black-backed Gull for the TN year list, 299 and
counting.........
Good Birding!!!
