Todays travels took me again up to the North Haven area (N Watkins & Hwy 51)
and back down to the Ensley Bottoms area.
1210-1245pm: Visited all the spots usual wetland areas on both rds south of
the Loosahatchie Rvr .
The drainage pond on Hwy 51 had a couple of shorebirds, 2doz or so Killdeer,
and 9 -Can Geese.
The 1st wetland on N Watkins had 15-Grt Egrets and 2-Snwy Egrets while the
Cypress Pond had even less 10-Grt Egrets, 6- Snwy Egrets, 8-Starlings,
7-Crows, 3-Morn Doves and a MS Kite flying overhead.
Eagle Lake WMA is now open to Vehicle traffic since the 14th till 4pm every
day. Several Kingbirds, a Robin and a Blue bird on the access rd today
nothing else though.
Riverport Rd didn't have much to show: Some Morn Doves, 1-GrtBl Heron, 1-Grn
Heron, and 2- Wood Ducks.
TVA ponds combined had 11- Grt Egrets, 1-Grt Bl Heron, 5- DC Cormorants, and
the the usual Morn Doves.
At the Pits: The first couple of ponds didn't have a whole lot but the back
big pond showed better results but not like the last couple of weeks. All
the Black necked Stilts are gone. Least, Semipalmated, Pectoral Sandpipers
were in good numbers, several Solitary's were also seen as well as some
Lesser Yellow legs. More water is in the back pond now especially in the
back SE corner more of the larger birds were down there. Didn't have a scope
so more investigation needed. Several Hawks flying around chasing up the
birds, and as I was leaving 3-Ms Kites were over Riverport Rd.
