I like these discussions - I remember a discussion on this subject on the old Valley Birds listserv over 10 years ago. Many of the birds listed back then have since been seen in TN but a few haven't but are still overdue. Here's my current top ten in no particular order: Mountain Bluebird Mountain Plover Burrowing Owl Greater Roadrunner Clark's Nutcracker Fork-tailed Flycatcher Mew Gull Northern Wheatear Tufted Duck and the new bird I'd like to throw into this discussion: Vaux's Swift - they seem to show up just south of us in the late fall and early winter so why not?? Good birding in 2009!
