Last night around 7pm, I noticed a sparrow with a lot of white on its head, but
still thought it was a White-Throated since they have been fairly common, but I
grabbed the binoculars and got a really good look at a beautiful male
White-Crowned Sparrow.
This morning while on Cowbird-watch duty over my feeders, I looked out and
noticed a rather large-looking female purple finch, which I thought might be a
Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. When it flew to our Redbud, I noticed a male
Towhee-looking bird near the top, and was now suspicious. When it turned, I
saw the chest and had my first yard Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks. The male flew to
another feeder for a moment, giving us good ID looks. Two in 2 days is pretty
good for our yard.
