[TN-Bird] Nesting Snowy Egret

Sat. June20th

Observation at Little Elder Island on Woods Reservoir in Franklin Co. revealed
a Snowy Egret setting on a nest. We had previously reported seeing a Snowy
Egret gathering nesting material on the island a few weeks ago so were very
excited to now see one on the nest. If you want to boat out for a view of the
Egret, it is easy to spot on the North side slightly right of center on a small
tree about midway down at the islands edge. There are many Cattle Egrets,
Great Egrets, Great and Little Blue Herons, Green Herons, and Black-Crowned
Night-Herons in all stages of maturity. It is well worth a visit!

Also of interest seen on the island was a male Scaup, currently flightless due
to molted primary feathers (~half length) and a Coot that still remains for
several weeks.
