[TN-Bird] Near record Hooded Merganser count at Middlebrook Lake

The Hooded Merganser winter population at Middlebrook Lake, east Bristol in
Sullivan Co., is nearing peak in the last few days. I counted 238 birds there
today (11/27/05).
The record for the species at Middlebrook is 259 on 26 Dec 1999 (Coffey, Andy
Jones, et. al.).
One Lesser Scaup, 2 Mute Swans, 12 American Coots and the tip of the iceberg
for wintering Ring-billed Gulls (34) has begun. A single Pied-billed Grebe and
a Great Blue Heron.

Let's go birding.....
