TN-birders,
Dollyann and I ran into Chris Welsh today at 7 Islands wildlife refuge in
eastern Knox County. None of us were able to re-locate the Townsend's Solitaire
reported there a few days ago. There were lots of sparrows around and a few
other species of note, but no solitaire. Other nice finds included Purple
Finches (2 females), Northern Harrier, and a beautiful adult Bald Eagle. I
think Chris said he had seen some Sandhill Cranes as well before we met up with
him.
Dan and Laurie Mooney will be leading a field trip out there this coming
Sunday, Nov. 27th, starting at 7:45 a.m. at the refuge.
Ron Hoff and Dollyann Myers,
Clinton, Tn.
