I was pleased to see a sampling of most of our regular backyard visitors in East Ridge today (2/14/10) for the count. I counted 23 different species: american gold finch 2 american robin 2 blue jay 1 brown-headed cowbird 15 brown-headed nuthatch 1 carolina chickadee 3 carolina wren 1 chipping sparrow 1 common grackle 280 downy woodpecker 2 eastern towhee 2 european starling 25 house finch 2 mourning dove 4 northern cardinal 4 northern mockingbird 2 pine warbler 3 red-bellied woodpecker 1 red-winged blackbird 170 tufted titmouse 3 white-breasted nuthatch 1 white-throated sparrow 1 yellow-rumped warbler 2 There were some other birds that a more experienced birder would have identified.
