Finally, diversity in spades at the pits. TWENTY species of WIND BIRDS seen
this morning: American Golden-Plover - 3 still in basic plumage, Semipalmated
Plover, kept coming up with 44-46 birds in all the pits, Killdeer with many
young, Black-necked Stilts, numbers up and pairs tending nests, Greater
Yellowlegs 4, Lesser Yellowlegs 360+, Solitary Sandpiper numbers still above
50,
Spotted Sandpiper now 2 birds, Semipalmated Sandpiper -4, Western Sandpiper -
8 very colorful birds, Least Sandpiper, many in bright breeding plumage,
White-rumped Sandpiper, First Of Season for me with 6 birds counted, Baird's
Sandpiper 3, Pectoral Sandpiper total up from last week, Dunlin 1 in breeding
plumage, Stilt Sandpiper 24+ in mix, plumage variable from basic to almost
full
breeding, Short-billed Dowitcher 1 just starting to molt, 5 Long-billed all
sleeping, Wilson's Snipe 3 and Last but not least!! 4 full breeding plumaged
female Wilson's Phalarope with a single male thrown in for contrast. There
could have been another bird but 2 of the birds were separate from the 4
feeding females and were moving around. I never could get all counted in one
run.

All the swallows were present including my FOS Bank, scattered groups of
Eastern Kingbirds everywhere. Migrating FOS, Mississippi Kites at the ridge
above the pits making straight line flights along with Red-tailed and
Broad-winged Hawks plus more Mississippi Kites feeding over President's Island
where I
located our male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher back on territory for the 4th year.

Now, I'll head north to try to catch up with a TN - RUFF for the
year>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Good Birding !!!
