[TN-Bird] Mourning, Connecticut at Ellington, Davidson Co.

5-27-06
Ellington Ag Center
Davidson Co.
Two Oporornis in half an hour! I birded Ellington this morning and found a
Mourning Warbler in a dead brush pile right along the trail at the west end of
the big sparrow field. I watched in disbelief for 20 minutes as it chipped,
sang, preened and foraged just 10 feet away on bare branches. What a look!
Then at the east end of the big sparrow field I heard a Connecticut Warbler,
but
never saw it. Too much to ask for I guess. In between those two there was a
Common Yellowthroat performing a flight/song display over the field, which I
had never seen before. Several Indigo Buntings rounded out a beautiful
morning. My species list for Ellington now stands at 104 since I started
birding
there October 1, 2005.
