This is a very cooperative bird and does not require lots of walking thru tall
grass fields to find. See it while it lasts. Multiple sightings this morning
and good photos.
Bird is at Cherokee Farms, a UT development. Take 129 over the Tennessee River
near UT campus. Take immediate right into Cherokee Farm. Follow road to the
right. Park on far side of the building closest to river.
Take paved walking trail down to river. Turn left. In a short distance you
will come to mile marker 1.5 This is the spot. Turn left at this point and the
bird should be between you and the very tall brush (or close by)
Between the pavement and the high brush there are 2 mowed down paths and two
grass cuts that are maybe a foot high. The bird has been foraging in the 2nd
(taller) section. Walk in this higher grass and you may flush it. It will
probably fly to the tall brush area but should come back.
It was also flushed early this morning in the heavy grass area to the
downstream side of the tall brush area even with the 1.5 mile marker.
