I went to the Wolf River harbor this afternoon in hopes of locating the
wandering Manatee that had been sighted there. Many hopeful spectators lined
the levee, binoculars trained on the water. The Memphis Police harbor patrol
was there as well as WREG reporters and helicopter, but the peripatic sirenian
failed to show. I did enjoy a nice conversation with Mr James Jackson, the
fisherman who first located "Big Manny" (his name for the creature) and was
reveling in his fifteen minutes of fame.
I did manage to locate three first-of-season Dark-eyed Juncos and a single FOS
Song Sparrow.
