Yesterday (11/19/08) I finally added Rusty Blackbird to my yard list
when a flock of about 25 flew over. I've been hoping to add this one
for many years, and was very happy they had finally put in an
appearance. This morning (11/20/08) I was greeted first thing when I
walked out the front door with the squeeky song of the species. It
turned out there were at least 106 of them in the trees in my yard
and in the woods along the intermittent creek right in front of the
house. There were both sexes and all plumages, and many singing
males. Back in the olden days, Rusty Blackbird was one of the first
birds I ever identified all by myself, so they always have a special
place for me.
