The first migrant sparrow of the season was a surprising Lincoln's Sparrow this morning (Sep 20 2006) in the brush along the creek near my house. Lots of passerine movement since the cold front last Monday. Warbler tallies for yesterday and today (Sep 19 / Sep 20) from my morning walk around the homestead here: Golden-winged Warbler - / 1 male Tennessee Warbler 4 / 10 Nashville Warbler - / 1 Northern Parula 1 / 2 Magnolia Warbler 8 / 4 Black-throated Green Warbler 1 / - Blackburnian Warbler 1 / 1 Bay-breasted Warbler 3 / 1 Black-and-white Warbler 1 / - American Redstart 1 / - Common Yellowthroat 7 / 8 And we've been invaded by Northern Flickers! Usually scarce down here in this hollow, there were a half dozen of them around this morning.
