south Blount County, east Tennessee off US 129 I made a short visit to Kyker Bottoms Wildlife Refuge Sunday afternoon. Lots of water in the fields. At first I saw no waterfowl but soon it became evident the ducks were staying out of view of the roads. Well over 100 ducks were on the ponds and hidden in the vegetation. (same species as James Brooks reported for Saturday) I'm sure one reason there were so many more ducks present Sunday (compared to James' list) was that I was the only person on that part of the refuge. At the upper, paved parking area there were esaily over 30 WHITE-CROWNED Sparrows, several FIELD, SWAMP and a few SONG, plus at least 2 FOX Sparrows. Didn't see any swallows, butterflies or dragonflies.
