[TN-Bird] Kyker Bottom – Blount County (Maryville) – 9/13-9/14

Kyker Bottom ? Blount County (Maryville) ? 9/13-9/14

Well things are starting to get a little busier at Kyker Bottom (TWRA
Refuge) in Blount County (Maryville). The levees are mowed and there is
some water in one of the back ponds. Not too much there so far, a few
Wood Ducks, a couple of juvenile Green Herons and a female Green-winged
Teal.

Numerous small birds (see list). Saturday was hot and fairly productive
while Sunday early (8:00am) was the time to check out the back pond.
Once a couple of Red-shouldered Hawks got up about mid morning the pond
emptied and the crows raised a ruckous. Eventually about midday the wind
got up and the small birds ?battened down the hatches? as well.
