I went to Kingston Steam Plant this morning (7:30-9 am) to look for shorebirds--hopeful after all the rainy weather. But this is more on a Lack of Shorebirds report. Besides dozens of Killdeer, there was one solitary SOLITARY SANDPIPER. A few other birds of interest though: --A flock of 12 D-C Cormorants overhead and two more diving in the big pond. --An Osprey working on a nest on top of a TVA crane. Guess he's planning ahead for next year, but is he (she?) in for a surprise when it will be gone. --A pair of Blue Grosbeaks copulating, and another male not too far away. Isn't it a little late to be starting a brood?! --Singing Common Yellowthroat, Ea. Meadowlark, and Common Bobwhite. --Loads of Song Sparrows, Indigo Buntings, Canada Geese, and Killdeer--so what's new? =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
