Has anyone else been to the Kingston steam plant this spring?
I was there last Sunday, and as reported last Fall it has changed
considerably. A new road is very close to the mudflats. I wonder
how this will affect the shorebirds. Two Lesser Yellow Legs were
the only shorebirds, except a few Killdeer, present on the flats.
The river is way down with large areas exposed, which might
be shorebird feeding areas.
There is a Great Blue Heron rookery in the river on the island
next to the Osprey platform nests. I counted 18 Great Blues
standing on nests. Another 12 were seen fishing in the
shallows along the newly expose river edges.
I didn't see the rookery last year. Was it there, anyone?
I have never seen this many Great Blues before in the plant area.
