[TN-Bird] KY Long-tailed Jaeger

Kentucky Dam can be reached by traveling North on 1-24 toward Paducah. At
exit 31 go south on highway 453 take a left toward Kentucky Dam. Once on the
dam look to the left for the first pull off. This has been the best viewing
spot.
Light and lake conditions will have a lot to do with finding this bird. You
WILL need a scope and you need to be patient. The bird has been seen on the
East side of the lake but it could be anywhere. Scan the lake and look for a
dark bird. The bird is an intermediate plumage bird but appears to be dark
when seen in flight. It is smaller than a Ring-billed gull so you are looking
for a small dark bird on a big lake.
Good luck and let us know if you are successful. I know there are birders
traveling from other states to see the bird. We will keep any information on
KY
Birdline.
