KY Lake areas of Henry Co
(Eagle Creek, Paris Landing, Britton Ford, Big Sandy flats)
Not much going on yesterday afternoon at KY Lake, though 13 species of
shorebirds wasn't bad. The Godwits appear to continued on their journey to
southern South America. Highlight by location:
Eagle Creek (Bull Durham Rd)
Spotted Sandpiper 2
Pectoral Sandpiper 2
Baird's Sandpiper 2 (juv)
Semipalmated Sandpiper 8
Western Sandpiper 8
Least Sandpiper 40
Paris Landing (principally on the island)
Ring-billed Gull 200+
Herring Gull 1
Laughing Gull 2 (a juv. and a 2nd-winter, which makes at least 4 Laughers in
the area)
Bonaparte's Gull (juv. flying around the area)
Caspian Tern 100+
Pintail (over 100 mixed in with Shovelers, Mallards, Blue, and Green-winged
Teal around the island)
Britton Ford (flats closest to Swayne Rd)
American Golden-Plover 1 (juv)
Semipalmated Plover (1 juv)
Killdeer 50+
Lesser Yellowlegs 28
Upland Sandpiper (1 heard only)
Semipalmated Sandpiper 7
Least Sandpiper 10
Pectoral Sandpiper 39
Stilt Sandpiper 1 (juv)
Buff-breasted Sandpiper 2 (juv)
Big Sandy flats (Manor Rd)
Nothing but Killdeer and a few distant peeps
