Birder,
Earlier in the day, among the 69 to75 American Goldfinches on the feeders and
on the ground were 2 Purple Finches. One male had a noticeable eye infection
in one eye. This is the first time I have observed the eye disease in the
Purple Finches.
I was gone for a few hours and upon my return the Purple Finches are still near
the feeders and eating. None of the others seem to have the eye problem. I
have no idea what this means but maybe somebody will find this info useful.
