I saw my first House Wren just last year after being driven crazy trying to
figure out what that amazing, beautiful song was I had been hearing for several
years. Since last June I have seen SEVERAL House Wrens including a few in my
yard. For the last several days there has been one singing in and around my
yard in Hermitage, TN about one mile southeast of THE HERMITAGE itself.
My friend, Betsy, from the birdersworld.com forum, lives in Dallas, TX.
She has reported hearing and seeing her FIRST House Wren EVER in her yard in
Dallas this year. This is the first time she has ever heard of a House Wren
occurring that far west as this is west of their normal range. At last report,
she believes it is nesting in her yard. It appears that not only are their
numbers increasing, but their range is GREATLY increasing.
