A neighbor a couple of blocks from my mother's house spotted the bird
at her feeder this morning. She thought it was a house finch until
she saw the black on its face. Her feeder is not visible from the
street, but at least it helps explain why the bird disappears for
hours on end. I suspect there are several other feeders in the
neighborhood it might frequent. So, if you make a try for the bird,
patience and alertness. There MAY be clusters of sightings around 9
a.m, and 12-1 p.m., but it's not all that clear. There are many
goldfinches and house finches in the neighborhood moving around all
day, so it is easy to lose one little redpoll in the shuffle.
