I took my Ornithology class to Hiwassee refuge today. In addition to several
thousand Sandhill Cranes and an assortment of waterfowl (Mallards, Gadwall,
Canvasbacks, shovelers, Ring-necked Ducks, Green-winged Teal), it was a good
day for raptors. We saw 1 Cooper's Hawk, 4 Bald Eagles, 4 Northern Harriers,
and the best bird of the day...a Peregrine Falcon!
