[TN-Bird] Hamilton County Great White Heron

This morning I found the white morph Great Blue Heron that has been seen this 
week at Chickamauga Dam in Chattanooga (Hamilton Co.).  It was below the dam a 
short distance downstream from the restrooms at Riverpark.  When I first 
arrived it was standing on the near bank a few yards from a couple of 
fishermen, but it quickly flew and landed on the railing of a large boat or 
barge (a floating structure) moored along the opposite bank.  I watched it for 
maybe half an hour as it stood and then walked along the railing, eventually 
flying back to its original spot on the near bank.  

 

Quite a striking bird.
