[tn-bird] Gulls and Terns at Memphis

Sept. 25, 2002
Mud Island
Memphis on the Mississippi

I stopped by to scan the sandbar and found 7 Caspian Terns with one still
being fed by an adult, 6 Forster's Terns, 2 crisp, clean, full adult Herring
Gulls and a Ring-billed adult. A large number of Cormorants were seen heading
in strings down river and an Osprey hunted over the back water.

I guess these birds stopped off here to wait out the storm rather than going
south to wade out the storm. Although it is not particularly a strong storm
here as we are getting just the edge effect, it might be interesting to see
what gets push up or delayed during this wet time.

Good Birding!!!
