[TN-Bird] Great Yard Birding This Morning

It was cold, rainy, and dreary this morning at the top of Snows Hill but a
great time to see warblers. We had a flock of them, which is unusual for our
yard. Most of the time it is just single birds coming through. This morning a
dozen species all came to the same tree: Yellow (3), Pine (2), Black-throated
Green, Tennessee (3), Yellow-rumped (4), Blackpoll, Black and White, Palm,
Blackburnian, Cape May, Yellow-throated, and Blue-winged (2). Most of these
were matures and it was just overwhelming to see the gorgeous colors; the
Blackburnian was spectacular. I'm still in favor of renaming him
"Flame-throated".
Five of these warblers were firsts for the yard this spring as was the male
Blue Grosbeak sitting in the open feeder just after daybreak. We also saw our
first male Scarlet Tanager actually in the yard; two had flown over last week.
And as always seems to happen as soon as you report a bird as last of the
season as I did yesterday, a male White-crowned Sparrow was here this morning,
although this one is not nearly as mature as the one we saw all winter.

We've already seen 45 birds this morning and heard a Wood Thrush. But we never
count a bird unless we actually see it.
