[TN-Bird] Fox Sparrows, American Woodcock, Catoosa Co.

This afternoon, a little before 1:30 I was walking around in the field on
our property when I heard a sweet somewhat warbling call, reminding me a lot
of a Louisiana Waterthrush. I quickly headed towards the source of the noise
and as I got closer I realized it was a sparrow, but wasn't sure what kind.
I started pishing, then I heard this very sharp "*schmack"*, after just a
few seconds of sorting through the Song Sparrows, I found I nice red Fox
Sparrow. I believe there were 2, one vocalizing, and the one that I saw, as
I was watching it at the same time I was hearing the calls, but the bird I
saw wasn't vocalizing. If I'm not mistaken, this is only the 3rd yard
record, and the first time there's been more than one at a time.
This evening, around 6:00 or so, I was startled to hear an American Woodcock
"benting", I heard about 8 times consecutively. I usually don't hear them
til mid-late February. Does anybody know how unusual it is to hear them this
early?
Good Birding!
