[tn-bird] Foothills Parkway, Blount Co

Sept. 24, 2002

Went to Foothills Parkway today in hopes of catching some overflow from
yesterday's hawk migration, but to no avail. Winds were very light, first out
of the SE, then W. For a brief few minutes they gusted out of the NW when
I spotted the one Sharp-shinned, followed by a few Black & Turkey Vultures.
That was it!

However, 31 other species kept me entertained:

Chimney Swift
Red-headed Woodpecker - 1 migrating
Red bellied W
Downy W
Hairy W

N Flicker
Pileated W
E Phoebe
Rough-wg Swallow - 2
Blue Jay - 30+

 (not 1 crow)
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Red-br Nuthatch
White-br N
Carolina Wren

Swainson's Thrush
 (other species also heard)
Brown Thrasher
Cedar Waxwing - 66 in 4 flocks
Solitary Vireo
Tennessee Warbler - 24+

Chestnut-sided W
Magnolia W
Cape May W - 1
Pine W - singing residents + immatures
Black & White W

Summer Tanager - 1
Scarlet Tanager - 6
N Cardinal
Rose-br Grosbeak - 20+ moving through
Indigo Bunting - 3

Am Goldfinch

Blessed Birding!
