Foothills Parkway, closed section north of US 321
Blount County
Wednesday, December 29
~noon to ~ 2pm
Hi folks,
It sure is hard to bird when you've got a 7 month-old on your back, a
7 year-old neice running around, a wife and mother-in-law to keep up
with and 2 holidays-crazed dogs...
But our hike up the Foothills Parkway was still nice, given the
beautiful weather, and I still got to see and hear a number of nice
winter birds.
(From memory and not in order - so shoot me)
Red-breasted Nuthatch 2
Dark-eyed Junco many
Golden-crowned Kinglet 10
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Carolina Wren 3
Black-capped Chickadee 1 (and 2 others possible)
Carolina Chickadee 10
Tufted Titmouse 4
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
American Crow several
Blue Jay several
Eastern Phoebe 1
American Goldfinch several
Pileated Woodpecker 2
Downy Woodpecker 2
White-throated Sparrow 5 or 6 (where are they this year?)
Song Sparrow 1
Happy New Year. And *please* let me know if you find anything good
in Blount County in 2005!
Charlie
