The American Birding Association=92s Checklist Committee has recently decided
that the Yellow-chevroned Parakeet (Brotogeris chiriri) has become an
established species in the US. This means that those birders who keep their
lists based on ABA criteria can count this parrot if they have seen it.
It is most likely to be found in south Florida.
Until a few years ago, this bird and the White-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris
versicolurus - already ABA-countable) were considered a single species, the
Canary-winged Parakeet.
