We finally have a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird this morning after almost two weeks of seeing 6 to 8 males at the feeders regularly. It's difficult to count them because we have six feeders at different locations and cannot see them all at one time. After the initial attacks on this newcomer one male has allowed her to drink at "his" feeder while he watched. Not sure if he is conciliatory or courting. We also saw our FOS White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos today in the wild cherry tree behind the house. Maybe the predicted storm this weekend will bring the warblers with it. We hope so as only Yellow-rumped and Black and White Warblers have been seen in the yard so far. We still have lots of White-throated Sparrows and one little Dark-eyed Junco who has no tail feathers and may have to become a summer resident since it seems unable to fly more than a few feet.
