[TN-Bird] Re: FOUR species of Loons/goldfinches

Forgive this late post, but I was over at Pace Point early on Monday and
found the yellow-billed loon really close off the boat ramp at a place called
Granny's Creek(?). It was with some common loons. I did not see any Pacifics
or
red-throateds as I lost the lens to my scope which I haven't replaced, because
I really do not have the strength to tote one around any more. The yellow
billed really stood out among the commons it was near. I ran into the people
from the Chattanooga area later up by Rocky Point, but, since I cannot see to
drive after dark, I had to get on the road back to Nashville. When I left,
they
were scoping way out in the river beyond the range of my binoculars and
apparently had not found any of the "goodies" yet. It sure was grand to see
the
yellow-billed, and wish the others had cooperated for me.

This morning at my home in the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville near
the old Cleece's Ferry landing, I had three goldfinches come to my tube
feeder. Since I rarely have goldfinches, this was a treat. They are beginning
to
yellow-up a little and looking much more handsome than their winter "bland."
At first, there were two that came to the feeder, then one flew up which seemed
VERY DOMINENT and possessed much more yellow on its wings and throat. The
first two were obviously intimidated into leaving the feeder.

Also had a very brilliant male sapsucker flitting around checking his holes
in my trees on Sunday.
