[TN-Bird] FOS blackpoll warblers/Carolina wren update

Hello Birders,

When I walked onto my deck in Charlotte Park, West Nashville, Davidson
County, early this morning, I heard the familiar ultra-high sounds of my
wonderful
blackpoll warblers who visit me every spring. One then flew into the
hackberry tree right behind the deck and paused in bare spot long enough to
let me
have a GOOD look before he disappeared into the canopy of thick leaves. Two
more continued to sing from a neighbor's tree before following their
"leader" into my tree behind the deck. Blackpolls have come through every
year
since 1991, and are one of the few warbler species I get in my yard. They are
EARLY this year. Almost every other spring, they have magically arrived on
April 29. It sure is nice to see them, but they probably won't stick around
long.

I THINK my Carolina wrens abandoned their beautiful nest in the new gourd
downstairs. I have seen no eggs, and she is not setting. He is singing more
from the back of my property of late. My house wrens have also seemingly
abandoned me as well. Between two neighborhood cats that hang around and an
opossum that visits every night, the birds may have been scared away from
having
their eggs so close by.

Cheers & pryers,

Dee Thompson
