I got a few new spring migrants yesterday at the expense of others. I was =
stuck in the major backup on I-40 yesterday (wed) for about 2.5 hrs. I =
picked up my FOS Barn Swallow, Parula, and Black-and-white warbler. =
Others have reported them, but they were my firsts after trying hopelessly =
Tues morning at the Ellington Ag center in Nashville. These birds were =
somewhere near mile marker 140 in Humphreys County.
This morning while running at Chickasaw SP in Henderson County, I had many =
parulas, a couple blue-grey gnatcatchers, black and whites, several =
singing pine warblers, and a couple Louisiana waterthrushes. No Black-thr =
greens.
Upon returning to my office in Davidson County this afternoon, I had a =
White-eyed Vireo singing his heart out in the woods by the parking lot. =
=20
Not bad for not actually birding.
Cheers,
Scott Somershoe
