[TN-Bird] Re: FOS Dark-eyed Junco

All the water in the bird baths was frozen solid this morning but the cold
weather brought us our first Dark-eyed Junco of the fall. Since the
White-throated and White-crowned Sparrows were already here, we now are
looking for
the Purple Finches and Pine Siskins.
Yesterday we had the first Hermit Thrush in our yard this year. Tennessee
and Yellow-rumped Warblers are still numerous and beautiful. And that one
Ruby-throated Hummingbird continues to delay his departure even though the
sugar water was frozen this morning and he had to wait until we got some fresh
food out for him to eat. Could we have another Willie for the winter?
Probably not but a nice thought.

I'm interested in that Ruby-throated Hummingbird in Smithville. Ours hung
around until the 11th of this month, but a friend of ours here in Nashville
reported one as late as the 21st. Are we getting close to record late
departures here for the RTHU? Or does that matter any more, given the Willies
of the
winter?
