Ensley Bottoms
Shelby Co. TN

I had a friend in tow Saturday for his first time trip to the pits and
environs. The Wind Bird numbers are only slightly down and we managed a nice
assortment of 16 species with single Ruddy Turnstone, Wilson's Phalarope,
Baird's and
Buff-breasted leading the big-hits list. I really didn't take the time to
rummage through the crowd for that possible heart stopper that could be lurking
but I'll try to remedy that today.

Raptors were moving very high as we had 8 species with a Merlin gleaning
insects as it moved down the bluff line. The river has reclaimed all the
sandbars
for the umpteenth time this year and with the exception of a few Least Terns
nothing of interest was seen.

The Mottled Duck was seen on Friday around 11 AM but we made quick drive by
checks for the bird twice on Saturday with no luck.

Good Birding!!!
