[TN-Bird] Elizabethton Bird Club meeting

The Lee and Lois Herndon Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological
Society, often called the Elizabethton Bird Club (EBC), will meet on Tuesday,
April 01, (no fooling!) at 7 PM in the Science Building on the Milligan
College campus.
A few of the topics and upcoming events to be discussed by the group
are: (1) The Spring Banquet, which will be this coming Friday, April 4 at
5:30 PM at Stringers Restaurant in Elizabethton - (2) The Spring Bird Count,
which will be Saturday, April the 26 - (3)The Roan Mtn. Naturalists Rally on
May 2-4 - (4) The TOS Spring Meeting in Knoxville, also May 2-4 - (5)
Establishment of a Nominating Committee in preparation for election of new
officers - (6) Planning for Field Trips - (7) et al...
The featured program at this month's meeting will be a homespun affair,
in that members are invited to bring their favorite bird song recordings to
discuss and compare. If you have an easily portable player for whatever type
of recording you use, CD, cassette tape, phonograph (remember those?), it
might be good to bring it, as I am not sure what we might have available at
the meeting room. Perhaps this review will edify those seeking to make their
first purchase of a good bird recording. And hopefully we will begin to hone
our audio birding skills in time for the coming neotropical migrant influx.
Also, for the enjoyment of the hearing impaired and lip-reading members
like myself, volunteers will be solicited for the first annual birdsong
lip-synching contest, the winner of which I am sure will be greatly sought
out for parties and social occasions! (I'm putting my money on Larry, the
Pish Master ;-)
     See ya' at the meetin'
