[TN-Bird] Ed Davis Fish Farm, 4/26/09 & update from Jeff Wilson

4/26/09
Ed Davis Fish Farm
just outside Milan in Gibson Co
First of all, I talked to Jeff and in a quick run through the area he had the
Swainson's yesterday, he had no luck. He will be back in area later. Also, in
MS he and the Harboldt's are up to 21 Upland Sandpipers on the morning, in 3
different locations. I love those birds, wish I was there!

I stopped by Ed Davis Fish Farms on the way home from work this morning, to see
what the drawdown of the one pool was looking like. On the way in, I heard a
singing Lark Sparrow. It took a few minutes, but I finally found the singer
before he flew out into the middle of the big field here and went to ground.
This is my 1st Lark Sparrow here, but I don't put much time in here. Mark
Greene gets Larks regularly in Gibson Co, but most of my time looking for them
is spent in the counties north of here.

Warblers were very much in evidence, as I had 10+ Tennessee's, as well as
multiple Palm, Nashville, and singing Blackpoll along about 30 yards of road.
Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks were also very apparent. A singing Blue-headed Vireo
also continued my better than average spring for this species over here on this
end of the state.

The shorebirds were still present in good numbers, still mostly Yellowlegs,
Least, and Pectorals though. The Stilt Sand has moved on, but now 8
Semipalmated Plovers are working the mud. 3 Snowy Egrets were also enjoying the
flats here.

I've added 3 more images from this morning, of the Lark Sparrow, R-B Grosbeak,
Semi Plovers. The 1st one is here: http://www.pbase.com/mctodd/image/111777340

Good Birding!!
