Bob Ingle and I birded this area on Sunday morning and had a number of interesting sightings despite the refuge roads being closed due to flooding. At the sewage ponds on Long St were 20 Redheads, 10 N Shovelers, and 10 Gadwall. The boat launch ramp at the end of Pump Station Road was heaving with birds. There were thousands of swallows over the river with Purple Martins, Barn, N Roughwinged, and Tree seen An area of water which must have held a school of small fish was under constant assault by Bonaparte's Gulls, and 2 Common Terns joined the fray. Several Ospreys and Bald Eagles were also on patrol Two Common Loons in dress plumage cruised by with one female RB Merganser and a breeding plumaged Horned Grebe along as well. The cold wind finally chased us away; it looks to be a while before the water filling the bottoms will subside Terry Witt Murfreesboro TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
