If anyone is interested, I have marked the exact location of the Brown
Pelican and White Ibis on my Pbase photos. Immediately under those photos
there should be a "View Map" link, which takes you to a scaleable map of the
area. This can be looked at in either road map style or an overhead shot.
This is a pretty handy feature, that I sometimes forget about.
For any not familiar with Duck River, 'Refuge Lane' is the only vehicular
access into this area. The other roads can be walked, but vehicles have to
stay on Refuge Lane. Also, While it looks like Refuge Lane makes a loop
around the entire area, the road ends down where Refuge Lane actually
appears to go right along the river. The west end of Refuge Lane, off of
Pump Station Rd, has to be walked in as well. This would be good birding
though, there are a lot of flats in what is labeled as the Dewatering area,
though many will be distant.
Good Birding!!
