TN National Wildlife Refuge, Duck River Unit (Humphreys Co)
I will post a few other details later, but I had no problem finding the young
Brown Pelican that has been present the last few days. It was in the exact
location as previously posted, at the west end of Grassy Lake. It was in a
cypress down at the western end of Grassy Lake. It did make a flight out
towards the River, but was back within a few minutes.
Also nearby, were 4 young White Ibis. I ran into Clayton Ferrell, and there
have been upwards of a dozen young White Ibis here recently. He showed me the
most reliable location, when we saw one in flight. I returned a little later
and had four. This location is out the main levee going away from the
headquarters building. They could be anywhere though, lots of waders and wader
habitat. This particular area should be accessed mid-morning thru mid-afternoon
to not imact the nearby waterfowl capture/banding area.
I will post a few other observations and a link to photos later tonight.
Good Birding!!
