June 6, 2010 Alice Loftin and I found a Dickcissel this afternoon on Bridge Burners Boulevard in western Greene County. This is a new site for the species, which has often been observed in nearby areas, especially on and around the various Lick Creek Bottoms WMA units. We also observed a Eurasian Collared-Dove in Mosheim. June 2010 is the 72nd consecutive month that the species has been observed in this community. This evening, while driving in Tusculum, I saw a mated pair of Northern Bobwhite adjacent to a hay field and a Cliff Swallow feeding at the Elbert Kinser Bridge on Highway 107. Practically all the larger bridges in Greene County now have at least a few Cliff Swallow colonies.
