Early in the year I posted that I was doing a green big year to raise funds
for bird research grants in Colorado in honor of long time birder Joe
Roller. I haven't posted here again since it's a little off topic for
TN-Bird, but I thought you all may be interested in an update (and
reminder) about my blog (which is behind!). It's also never too late to
support this effort by a pledge per species or flat donation. We are
inching closer to raising $35,000!! That's a LOT of small grants for the
next couple generations of ornithologists. Unbelievable.

On Nov 1, I found the first of a few Black-legged Kittiwakes that showed up
in the Denver metro. The bird I found was the first at a heavily birded
state park since 2004! Heck of a story from this day.
